BTLPT Speaking: Real-Time Voice Practice
Where you rehearse out loud, under exam conditions
The course teaches the material and scores the oral responses you record and submit. This is different: a separate live-voice app where you hold real-time conversations with AI characters who talk back, follow up, and ask you to clarify, the way an interlocutor will on exam day. It complements the course; it is not included in it.
Real-time voice is expensive to run, which is why it is a paid add-on rather than a feature bundled into the course. We use a transcription model chosen for accented speech, on purpose, so your accent and every variety of Spanish spoken in Texas classrooms is understood correctly.

Where written expression quietly costs you points
Written expression is where candidates lose points without noticing, because accents, spelling and mechanics are invisible to the person making the error. Ortografía Pro is a separate practice app built for exactly that. It complements the course; it is not included in it.
Written in Spanish and set in real classroom situations: letters to families, lesson plans, progress reports. Useful for the BTLPT, for the writing subtest of the new 165, and for any bilingual teacher who writes to families every week. Three, six and twelve month plans are available.

What is included in the BTLPT Online Course?
The course is a comprehensive, self-paced preparation resource aligned to the structure of the BTLPT. It includes:

How do students access and complete the course?
When a university purchases seats, each student receives a login and full access to the course. Some institutions assign the course within a semester-long class, while others offer it as a standalone prep experience. Students complete tasks and assessments throughout the course and can access it at their own pace.
Can faculty oversee student activity?
Yes. Each institution gets its own private group portal, and faculty can be assigned as group leaders. Group leaders can:
- View which students have started or completed the course
- See scores on AI-graded assessments
- Track oral and written submissions
- Monitor time on task and progress through modules
- Send feedback directly to students
How does the BTLPT Practice Exam work?
The full-length online practice exam mirrors the actual structure of the BTLPT, with all four sections: Listening, Reading, Oral Expression, and Written Expression. It is timed, proctored (if desired), and includes AI-generated feedback instantly after submission. Universities often use it as a final benchmark assessment within a prep course.
How many versions of the exam are available?
There are currently three full versions of the BTLPT practice exam. Students can take the exam up to three times, receiving a different version each time. This allows them to retake it if needed, while still practicing under authentic conditions.
Can we evaluate student performance and set benchmarks?
Yes. Each section of the practice exam is scored separately. Faculty can:
- View individual and group performance
- See breakdowns by section (Oral, Written, Reading, Listening)
- Set custom performance expectations (e.g., 80% minimum)
- Leave custom comments and scoring notes on student responses
- Use the platform to simulate a real testing day and proctor the exam with timed codes
Can faculty provide feedback on students’ oral and written responses?
Yes. In addition to the AI-generated feedback that students receive immediately after completing the exam, faculty members can log into the system to:
- Listen to students’ oral responses for each version of the exam
- Read and review written responses
- Evaluate each performance using our own rubrics, aligned to the domains the BTLPT measures
- Enter personalized comments and suggestions directly in the grading panel
- Send full results to students, including section scores, feedback, and overall progress
This makes the practice exam not just a grading tool, but a guided learning experience that helps students improve through targeted faculty input.
Can faculty track student progress throughout the course?
Yes. Group leaders can see how many of the course’s 137 tasks each student has completed, view the number of attempts per assessment, monitor average scores, and track whether students are progressing steadily.
Assessments are mastery-based; students can retake them multiple times to achieve a passing score (usually 80%). This supports a practice-and-growth model, not a one-time test.
Do you offer onboarding or support?
Yes. We offer:

- Ongoing email support for both institutions and learners
How are seats assigned? Do they expire?
Seats are purchased in advance by the institution and do not expire. You can assign seats to students across semesters, cohorts, or programs. Institutions often tie seats to a specific course, but some assign them individually when students reach a certain point in their program.
How do institutions purchase seats?
We support:

- Direct invoices with W-9 and vendor setup as needed
Once your order is received, we create a private group for your institution, assign the requested number of seats, and grant dashboard access to faculty or program leaders.
