TExES LOTE Spanish (613) Exam Preparation with AI Language Lab+
This course prepares future and current Spanish teachers for the TExES Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Spanish (613) exam, and it gives certified LOTE Spanish teachers 20 CPE clock-hours toward certificate renewal, documented on your POK digital credential once you complete all course steps and score 240 or higher on the capstone practice exam. It combines study guides organized by the 11 official competencies, a 242-item practice question bank, a timed practice exam and the AI Language Lab+, where you practice speaking, writing, listening, reading and conversation in Spanish.
Course language: the study guides, the key-terms pages and the AI Language Lab+ are in Spanish. Each key-terms page also gives the English equivalent of every term. Practice question stems and the quiz interface are in English.
CPE Hours for Certificate Renewal
Enabling Learning LLC is a TEA-approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE) provider. This course awards 20 CPE clock-hours.
- CPE content area (19 TAC §232.11(c)(2)(A)): content-area knowledge and skills for the Languages Other Than English (LOTE): Spanish certificate, organized by the 11 TExES 613 competencies.
- How your hours are documented: your POK digital credential documents the 20 hours. It is issued when you complete all course steps and score 240 or higher on the capstone practice exam. Save it with your renewal records.
- This course does not cover the separate CPE requirement on educating students with disabilities and dyslexia.
AI Language Lab+
Practice in Spanish with activities that are generated new each time you start one. Unlimited AI practice sessions are included.
- Conversation with Verónica: a written chat in Spanish on teaching topics. Verónica corrects grammar, vocabulary and spelling in her replies and gives you a summary at the end of the session.
- Speaking practice: record your responses in the browser, including exam-style tasks modeled on the official speaking formats (integrated presentation, opinion presentation and a simulated conversation for practice), plus a mini-lesson and classroom instructions. The AI transcribes your recording and gives feedback on task completion, topic development, grammar and vocabulary. Pronunciation is not scored by AI: the evaluation reads a transcript and cannot hear your pronunciation, intonation or pauses, so replay your own recording to check them. Chrome on a computer is recommended for speaking practice.
- Writing practice: exam-style tasks (a response to an email, letter or memo, an opinion essay and an integrated read-then-write task) and professional tasks (a parent email, a newsletter paragraph, a cultural comparison, a lesson plan segment and paragraph editing), with rubric-based feedback and corrections.
- Listening practice: AI-generated Spanish audio in classroom, parent conference, news and cultural, and academic lecture contexts, followed by comprehension questions.
- Reading practice: AI-generated practice texts (academic articles, school newsletters, literary passages and professional correspondence) followed by comprehension questions.
- Practice level estimates: each speaking response, and each writing task except paragraph editing, receives an estimated level on the official TExES 613 rubric. This is an AI practice estimate, calibrated against official TEA-scored Spanish sample responses from the BTLPT (190) exam, which uses the same four-level rubric. Not an official TExES score.
The lab practices the Spanish-language tasks. It does not grade the official exam’s English-language pedagogy writing tasks.
AI Study Buddy (Verónica)
Every competency includes Verónica, your AI study assistant, grounded in the study content for that competency. Ask her to explain a concept, give you a classroom example, define a key term, or quiz you on what you just read.
Smart Study Dashboard
Your Smart Study Dashboard tracks your practice results across every competency, so you can see where you are strong and where you need more practice. Verónica, your AI tutor, is also on the dashboard: ask her “What should I study next?” and she will answer from your own results.
Practice Questions
Start with a 10-question diagnostic that gives you a quick readiness snapshot, then use your results to choose which competency to study first. Each competency has a 5-question practice quiz with explanations, and each of the 6 domains has a 10-question review quiz. All quizzes draw from a bank of 242 selected-response questions aligned to the official domains, competencies and descriptive statements.
Capstone Practice Exam
The capstone is a timed 80-question practice exam (up to 5 hours), scored on the 100 to 300 practice scale with 240 as the target. It unlocks after you complete at least one practice quiz for each competency. Three different forms for your first three attempts, with no more than 15% overlap between any two; after that, the forms repeat. Retakes are available during course access.
Official format disclosure: the official TExES 613 exam has 120 selected-response questions and 8 constructed-response tasks (3 speaking and 5 writing) in a 5-hour computer-administered appointment, with 4 hours and 5 minutes of testing time. Our capstone is a selected-response practice exam drawn from the 242-item bank; it does not score constructed responses. Speaking and writing practice is provided separately in the AI Language Lab. Practice scores are estimates, not official TExES scores.
Digital Credential
When you complete all course steps and score 240 or higher on the capstone practice exam, you receive the TExES 613 Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Spanish Exam Preparation digital credential, issued through Proof of Knowledge (POK) on the Open Badges 3.0 standard. It includes:
- A downloadable PDF certificate with your name, the course title, the issue date and the 20 hours
- A QR code that verifies the credential was issued by Enabling Learning
- A shareable link for LinkedIn, your district or your renewal records
The credential documents that you completed our preparation program. It is not an official TExES score or a Texas teaching certificate.
