This is a living course. We keep it current as AI tools evolve, so new lessons and refinements are added over time.
For the past two years, I’ve been working closely with AI tools, integrating them into our courses, books, and teacher support systems, including Verónica, our AI-powered tutor trained with curated databases focused on bilingual education, ESL, and multilingual learner support.
In recent years, through dozens of presentations and workshops, I’ve seen all kinds of educators: some just starting with AI, and others doing amazing, creative work. This course was created to show how AI can help us in our daily work as teachers, parents, and administrators by saving time, streamlining tasks, and boosting productivity.
In this free course, we’ll walk you through practical ways to use tools like Custom GPTs, Claude Projects, Gemini Gems, and NotebookLM, powerful and flexible AI systems that make advanced artificial intelligence techniques accessible without the need for coding.
You’ll also notice that some of the videos in this course were created with AI, including the one above. We did this intentionally to demonstrate the potential of AI in creating engaging educational resources. This includes the use of NotebookLM’s recently added video generation feature, AI-generated voiceovers from ElevenLabs, and background music produced with Envato Elements Music Generator.
At the end of the course, you’ll find direct links to all the tools we’ve used and recommended throughout the lessons, along with an additional curated list of AI tools and resources for you to explore. We’ll do our best to keep this list updated, as these technologies evolve quickly and new tools continue to emerge to support teaching, learning, and educational productivity.
AI is evolving at an incredibly rapid pace, and staying engaged is no longer optional; it’s part of our professional responsibility. My hope at Enabling Learning is that this course helps you explore what’s possible, apply what’s useful, and stay curious as new tools emerge. The more we understand how to use AI thoughtfully, the more we can shape it to enhance our work, not replace it.
February 2026 Update: Since this course first launched, AI has evolved significantly. What were once simple chatbots have become AI agents, systems capable of remembering your context, working directly with your files, and completing multi-step tasks autonomously. We have added a new module, The Age of AI Agents, to help you understand and use these new capabilities in your teaching practice. We have also updated the tools list with new resources, including CLI-based agents and productivity tools. June 2026 update: we refreshed the course with current AI models and tools and added a new lesson, Using AI Responsibly, on protecting student data and verifying AI output.
