Ortografía Pro: Spanish Accents and Spelling Practice

Web app · 1,000+ verified challenges · From $12.99 Spanish accents and spelling, mastered by playing

Write Spanish with the same
confidence you speak it

Ortografía Pro is a practice arcade for Spanish acentuación and ortografía: over 1,000 expert-verified challenges across 15 game modes, a complete rule guide, and Verónica, an AI tutor who explains every mistake. Built for bilingual teachers preparing for the TExES 165 writing subtest, the BTLPT, or simply writing to families every week.

The problem this solves

You know the rules.
Your fingers don’t.

If you grew up speaking Spanish, nobody needs to teach you what examen means. But when you write a parent letter, a lesson plan, or a timed exam response, the questions pile up fast: does it carry a tilde? Is it haya or halla? Hecho or echo? Capital or lowercase for lunes?

On the TExES 165 Bilingual Supplemental (Subtest 167) and the BTLPT, accumulated convention errors lower your writing score. In your professional life, they quietly cost you credibility with families and administrators. And the old advice, “listen for the difference,” is useless: for almost all Mexican and Texas Spanish, c, s, and z sound exactly the same, and so do ll and y, and b and v.

The fix isn’t more rules. It’s short, frequent, corrected practice, the kind that turns rules into reflexes. That’s exactly what this app is.

15 game modes

Ten quick challenges per round.
Instant correction, every time.

Every challenge was written and double-verified by Spanish orthography specialists against the current RAE norm (the RAE is the Real Academia Española, the institution that sets the official rules of the Spanish language), and set in real teacher contexts: notes to families, lesson plans, progress reports, classroom messages. Pick a mode, play a round of ten, and every answer comes back corrected with its rule explained.

Accentuation, the heart of the exam

Acentúa la Frase

Tap every word in the sentence that needs a tilde.

¿Lleva tilde?

Decide whether the word takes an accent, and where.

Clasifica la palabra

Aguda, llana, esdrújula or sobresdrújula.

Diptongo o Hiato

Identify the vowel group that decides the tilde.

El par correcto

The tilde diacrítica: él/el, tú/tu, sí/si, más/mas.

Caza el error

One word in the sentence is wrong. Find it, and see it corrected.

Escribe con tilde

Type the correct form yourself. Recognizing is not producing; this mode trains the writing hand.

Letters that sound alike

B·V

B o V

By rule and meaning: tubo/tuvo, bienes/vienes.

G·J

G o J

Gente, garaje, and the diéresis: bilingüe, pingüino.

H

H o sin H

The silent h and its traps: hay/ahí/ay, hecho/echo.

C·Z

C, S o Z

Seseo-proof spelling: educación, comprensión, luces.

LL·Y

LL o Y

Halla/haya/aya, valla/vaya, rallar/rayar, by meaning.

Homófonos

The full set of sound-alike pairs a teacher writes weekly.

Conventions English tries to sabotage

Aa

¿Mayúscula o minúscula?

Days, months, and languages are lowercase in Spanish. Your English habits disagree; this mode settles it.

¿!

Signos ¿ y ¡

Opening marks, placed exactly where the question starts, even mid-sentence.

More than drills

A rule guide, an AI tutor, and a skill map

Guía de reglas: 14 sections

A complete Spanish-language reference written for teachers, covering every rule the app practices:

  • The tonic syllable and the four word classes
  • Diptongos, hiatos, and the broken-diphthong tilde
  • The full tilde diacrítica table with memory tests
  • Interrogatives and the four porqués
  • -mente adverbs, capitals with tildes, and the RAE 2010 optional cases
  • Every letter family: b/v, g/j, h, c/s/z, ll/y, r/rr

Each section includes comparison tables, real common errors, an exam tip, and buttons that jump straight into the related practice modes.

Verónica reviews every round

When you finish a round, Verónica, your AI tutor, looks at exactly what you missed and explains it in warm, precise Spanish:

  • Which rule you broke, with your own sentence as the example
  • How to remember it next time
  • Which mode to practice next, based on your real data

Her explanations are grounded in the app’s verified rule guide, the same one you can read, so what she tells you always matches what the app teaches. No generic AI answers.

A progress dashboard no book can give you

Every answer feeds an analysis engine that turns your data into direction:

  • Mastery index: one number for your command of all 15 skills, with writing weighted double, because producing a tilde is harder than recognizing one
  • Pattern detection: the app tells you whether you drop tildes or add extra ones, names your most-confused pair, and catches you rushing
  • Verónica’s weekly plan: one tap and your AI tutor reads your full skill map and hands you your three priorities, each tied to a practice mode and a guide section
  • Trends and habit: accuracy across your recent rounds, a practice-day calendar, and every rule broken out skill by skill

You always know exactly where you stand and exactly what to practice next.

Smart repetition

It never wastes your time on what you already know

The app remembers every challenge you’ve answered. Each round serves you new material first, brings back the items you missed at the right moment (that’s spaced repetition, one of the best-evidenced ways to make spelling stick), and rests anything you’ve already gotten right until it’s worth re-testing.

Practice also adapts to your skill map: the weaker a rule, the more often its challenges appear. Two teachers using the same app get two different workouts.

Over 1,000 challenges at launch, written and double-verified by Spanish orthography specialists
Every item solvable by rule or meaning, never by sound, because seseo is your reality
RAE-aligned, including the honest treatment of optional accents like solo: the app never marks you wrong on a form the RAE accepts
Your progress dashboard detects error patterns (missing vs extra tildes, confused pairs, rushing) and tells you what to practice next
The challenge bank is reviewed and expanded on an ongoing basis
Earn a credential

Finish the program.
Earn 10 verifiable CPE hours.

Complete the app’s certification route and you receive a verifiable digital credential certifying 10 CPE hours (Continuing Professional Education), issued through Proof of Knowledge (POK) as an OpenBadge 3.0 credential: a digital certificate delivered to your email, downloadable, shareable on LinkedIn, and verifiable online by employers and institutions.

Unlike credentials that just count time on a platform, this one has to be earned by demonstrating you understand the rules. Practice alone never earns it. The full route:

Study the rule guide and pass every section check: each of the 14 sections ends with a 10-challenge comprehension assessment, 80% to pass
Complete the structured practice minimum: 600+ challenges, at least 20 in every one of the 15 modes, across 7 or more practice days
Pass the Evaluación de Dominio: a 30-challenge final exam covering all 15 modes, at 80% or higher

Your progress dashboard shows exactly how far along you are on every requirement; the credential issues automatically the moment you pass the final exam.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I access the app after I buy?
Log in to your enablinglearning.com account and open the My Apps tab in My Account. You’ll see an Abrir Ortografía Pro button that signs you straight into the app, no second password. You’ll also get a welcome email walking you through it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, that’s where it shines. It’s a web app, nothing to download, and it’s designed mobile-first: tap the words that need tildes, play a ten-challenge round in the pickup line. Any modern browser on phone, tablet, or computer works.
Is this a course?
No. It’s deliberate practice. If you want the rules taught step by step, our course La acentuación y la práctica del acento escrito does that. The app has a complete 14-section rule guide built in for reference, but its job is to make the rules automatic through play. Many students use both.
Which Spanish does it follow?
The current norm of the RAE (Real Academia Española, the institution that sets the official rules of the Spanish language), in the Mexican and US-Texas Spanish your classroom actually uses. No vosotros, no peninsular-only forms. And where the RAE made an accent optional (the adverb solo, demonstrative pronouns), the app treats both forms as correct instead of imposing one, because accuracy matters more to us than convenience.
Will it help me with the TExES 165 or the BTLPT?
It targets exactly the writing-conventions skill those exams score: control of accentuation and spelling in professional Spanish writing. The challenges use teacher-life contexts (parent letters, lesson plans, progress reports) so the practice transfers to the writing tasks. It is not a guarantee of passing and doesn’t replace studying the pedagogy content of your certification.
Won’t I run out of exercises?
The app launches with over 1,000 verified challenges and serves you new challenges first. Items you missed come back on purpose until you master them, and items you got right rest about three weeks before a re-test. And the bank is reviewed and expanded on an ongoing basis.
How do I earn the 10-hour CPE credential?
By completing the certification route inside the app: pass the 10-challenge comprehension check at the end of each of the 14 guide sections (80%+), complete the practice minimum (600+ challenges, at least 20 in every mode, across 7+ days), and pass the final Evaluación de Dominio (30 challenges, 80%+). The verifiable digital credential is then issued automatically through POK and arrives by email, ready to download and share on LinkedIn. Practice time alone never earns it; the route exists so the credential actually means something.
Who wrote the exercises?
Every challenge and every guide section was written and then independently double-verified by Spanish orthography specialists against the current RAE norm, with a final automated structural check before anything reaches the app. Items that failed any check were rejected. We’d rather have fewer perfect challenges than many questionable ones.
What happens when my access period ends?
Your access simply expires; there is no auto-renewal and no surprise charge. Your progress data stays, so if you renew later you pick up right where you left off.
