What is the Texas placement exam?
The TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0) is the placement test required by Texas state law for entering most Texas public colleges and universities. It has two sections: Mathematics and ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading, including a written essay). Your scores determine whether you enroll directly in college-level coursework or in developmental education classes first.
Does this course replace the real TSIA2?
No. This is a preparation course. The actual TSIA2 placement exam is administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and only your THECB score determines your college placement. Our app helps you prepare; it does not issue a placement result. Our Certificate of Completion documents that you finished our preparation program; it is not a college-readiness credential.
Does Verónica give me the answer?
During active practice, Verónica is designed to give hints and guiding questions instead of the answer. Our safeguards were tested with sample questions, but AI responses can vary. Use her guidance to check your reasoning, then choose your own answer.
What languages does Verónica support?
Ask in English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, or Portuguese. We tested sample coaching replies in all eight; English, Spanish, and Mandarin have the most extensive testing. Audio playback is available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. Other languages may work, but have not received the same review.
How does AI essay scoring work?
When you submit a placement-style essay, our AI scores it on a practice rubric informed by published WritePlacer criteria. Every essay is graded twice and the scores reconciled. You get a practice holistic 1-to-8 score, dimension-by-dimension feedback, strengths, areas to work on, and a suggested next step. The AI score is not an official TSIA2 result.
Can I retake the practice test?
Yes. Each new attempt draws questions from the verified pool. Some questions may recur; we do not promise three fixed forms or a specific overlap rate.
What happens when my access ends?
Your account is preserved. You can renew at any time and pick up exactly where you left off, including your mistake notebook, progress tracking, and previous diagnostic results.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The app is mobile-first. Practice from your phone on the bus, at home, or between classes. Audio playback is available in supported languages and browsers.
